Carrier Duct-Free Systems

Why choose duct-free systems?

Carrier duct-free systems are the ideal complement to your ducted system, when it is impractical or prohibitively expensive to use ductwork.

A creative, economical solution.

Carrier duct-free systems offer a matched combination of an outdoor condensing unit and one of three compact, decorative indoor fan coil units, connected only by refrigerant tubing and wires. One of the three styles will fit any application you might encounter. Fan coils can be mounted on the wall, under the ceiling or in a suspended ceiling, permitting inexpensive, creative solutions to numerous design problems including:

  • Add-ons to current space (office or family room addition)
  • Special space requirements (such as a computer room and kitchens)
  • When adding air conditioning to spaces that are heated by hydronic or electric heat and have no ductwork
  • Historical renovations or whenever it is essential to preserve the appearance of the original structure
  • Any room where individual comfort control is desired (such as a home office)

The Carrier advantage.

  • Carrier is the world's largest air conditioning and heating products manufacturer
  • Carrier is supported by a nationwide service network
  • Skill and engineering craftsmanship behind all units assure quality and performance
  • Carrier is the world leader in air conditioning
  • Among the buildings that use Carrier are:
The White House
Sistine Chapel
Sears Tower
The United Nations
U.S. Congress
The Pentagon
The Astrodome
Chicago/O'Hare Airport

Featured benefits

One of the primary benefits of Carrier's duct-free systems, is that they can be installed in places where conventional ducted cooling simply cannot go. Other advantages include:

Quiet operation - There are no compressors in, or directly above, the conditioned space; and there is none of the noise usually generated by air being forced through ductwork. Indoor units are whisper-quiet, and outdoor units satisfy sound level ordinances by operating at levels as low as 6.8 bels.

High efficiency and economy - Because no energy is lost forcing air through ductwork which can result in losses up to 15-20%, duct- free systems are more efficient than comparable ducted systems.

Built-in reliability - Our units are designed to provide years of trouble-free operation. All systems include protection against freeze-ups and high discharge temperatures. Our simple self-diagnostic technology helps simplify troubleshooting on most models.

Individual room comfort - Each space can have individual set points and controls for maximum comfort. The air sweep feature on some models allows optimal air mixing to eliminate hot and cold spots.

Simple operation - High-wall units are microprocessor controlled and include an infrared wireless remote control. In-ceiling and under-ceiling units operate with new solidstate, multi-feature electronic thermostats. All units automatically restart and retain memory after power failure, and all are easily integrated into most building control systems.

Highest indoor air quality - Our optional advanced filtering system enhances indoor air quality by removing dust and particles from the air and combating unpleasant odors.

Attractive appearance - Compact size, lightweight and neutral colors allow our units to go anywhere and blend with any decor.
